Shopaholic and Baby Book Review Sophie Kinsella

Shopaholic and Baby is a chick-lit book authored by bestselling author Sophie Kinsella. This novel is the fifth instalment in the Shopaholic series. 

Shopaholic and baby is an amazing book. Although the plot is a bit unrealistic, the book is not boring.

This book is narrated by the main character, Becky Brandon née Bloomwood. Becky is a shopoholic. Her life is blooming! She is working at the newest fashion store, The Look, house-hunting with her husband Luke and she is pregnant! She couldn’t be more overjoyed! Everything has to be exemplary for the baby – from the designer nursery to the fancy pram to the celebrity must-have obstetrician!

So what’s the conflict. Well, turns out the celebrity must have obstetrician is her husband Luke’s glamorous, intellectual and gorgeous ex-girlfriend. She’s shopping for two, but are there three in her marriage?

This book is one of the funniest books I’ve read. And I haven’t even read the first four books in this series. That didn’t affect how much I enjoyed this book. So you really don’t have to read the first four books to pick up the plot of this one, although if you do read the other books, that’d be great!

I am also a bit of a shopaholic, so I could relate to Becky’s character.

And then the whole confusion and misunderstanding happens. That’s where everyone, Becky, Luke and the reader gets confused. Not gonna say anymore, because I don’t want to spoil the book for you.

My opinions

A very funny book, and laughed really hard at some part. I also learned a couple of new words AND fashion trends and brands from this book. Like a chiffon empire lined dress and the brand Missoni.

I love Becky’s sarcastically funny character.
